Title: 1966 230SL
Post by: uptheorg on March 29, 2017, 20:17:16
So I just took delivery of my 1966 230SL -- this car was a nut and bolt restoration in the late 90's which was driven very little and then completely serviced in 2016, including new rubber (seals, engine mounts, tranny mounts), new interior (seats, carpets, etc.), radiator re-core, new tires (Phoenix), new MB-branded battery, etc. etc. The refresh is estimated to have cost >$10k --

Here are a few shots from delivery day, including a final shot of the car nestled in my garage (with a 1969 Porsche 912 and a 1972 Toyota FJ40):

Nice collection there, but a large gas consumption?  4 gas meters on the wall in the background.
You must be a professional chef.
 ;) ;D

Question:  Are the components in the engine bay chrome plated or polished?  Hard to tell in the picture.

Engine bay has been polished, not chromed. The concept was to show the engine as it may have been prepared for a car show in the sixties -- manufacturer's would frequently polish whatever they could to spruce up the car to prepare for the show. I don't mind it a bit!

[The gas meters in the final photo above are for the entire building -- I am a tenant in one of the garages and there are three retail storefronts up above us opening out to the opposite side of the building.]
