Title: 280 SL right air vent
Post by: jsreid3 on February 19, 2017, 21:17:52
Does anyone know where I can find a new right chrome air vent for my 1969 280SL, or, I need to know how to remove the old one to try and get it rechromed, if possible.

I have a similar question. I am trying to remove mine right now and cant figure it out yet. There is one nut that I could remove from the glove box side but beside that I can't see what's holding it in place.

Take a look at the photo that Walter posted here:

There are two studs that insert into circular clips in the dash and one hook.

Be very careful when trying to get the clips off the studs and get the vents out as the small studs easily break off.  Don’t ask how I know.

thanks gents this was very helpful!

I found out that my clips were inserted from the front so they were not something I could remove from behind. Using the pics you sent I just inserted e plastic wedge behind the plate close to where the posts are located and slowly pried the plate off with the clips still in the holes.

didn't break anything. thanks for you help!
