Title: My 66 SL 230
Post by: Ebbe on January 10, 2017, 08:42:13
Hi - I am new here - and a new owner of a 66 SL 230. Original delivered i US but imported to Denmark in 2002. Currently doing some detail work on the interieur, new exhaust and rubber sealing on the cab-lid. Bought it from a widow whose husband renovated engine, transmission and drivetrain. Looking forward to springtime :)

PS! The Speedster is now living in Belgium - a perfect replica  based on a Chesil kit.

Ebbe,

Welcome.   Looks very nice with the contrasting interior.   Keep us informed and of course more photos of your progress.

What color is the car, very difficult to tell from the pictures. Dark blue, 332? Black? I also like the contrasting color. I have a 280 SL finished in DB 904 dark blue with red leather.

AND - Welcome to the group!

It is Black. Original Havana Brown and tan int. I Would like to have it painted next winter. Antracite Grey (not metalic) the paintwork is done in US before 2002 and unfortunately not to the highest standard. It still have the paintrunners on the inside bootlid and bonnet:)

paintrunners on the inside of bonnet are factory feature...

As Igor said the paint runs on the bonnet and boot are features that are factory fit!!!

Its those types of things that in a restoration are often lost and should be retained if at all possible.  Its telling you that it is the original paint work and not some poor job done post factory. ;D ;D

It may be your lucky day 8)

I am aware about the runners and it shows that the car is very original and unrestored regarding the body. Exept the Black color:)

Ebbe,
I can't argue with your color choice.
Mine is the same as Urban's, 173G non-metallic Anthracite Grey.
Your interior looks lighter than my 132 MB-Tex.
(Urban, you knew I would post pictures of mine too, correct?)
The Antracite looks different in different lights as many darkish colors do.
By the way, I have now corrected many (all???) of the "errors" that are shown in these pictures like rear quarters and moldings and exhaust tips.
Enjoy the ride !!
Mark

Nice:) - Yes I think my int. is brighter red. It is not original quality - but very nice leather anyway. I would like to upgrade with white steering wheel and gearknop. Those small details you know...
