Title: It took 21 months but.....
Post by: mario on December 09, 2016, 19:21:51
She is finally home from restoration!  I felt like a child on Christmas morning!  Anthracite Grey Metallic/Cognac leather interior.  A very special thank you to Gus and his team at Beverly Hill Motors!

Looks lovely. The shot in the back of the truck is stunning, imagine opening the doors and seeing that for the first time, wow!

Congratulations Mario, looks like a wonderful and successful outcome. I'm sure the cost to come to this end result will soon be forgotten at least each time you take her on a journey. Happy And Safe trails always.

What a lovely colour combination.  Cost will soon be forgotten.....

After my first real restoration of a vintage motorcycle I calculated the depreciation per year on the back of a beer stained napkin during a football game arguing with my buddies that vintage bikes are way cheaper than newer ones and not even close to renting a bike.

Bike cost $1,000
Restoration cost $5,000
Value at debut at show - $6,500
Value at end of first year - $4,000
Value at end of 2nd yr - $3,500
Value for years 3-9 - $3,500
Value for years 10-15 - $3,000

Cost per ride -
year 1 -  25 rides =$160 each(ouch)
year 2 - 15 rides = $33 each
Year 3 - 18 rides = $27 ride
years 3-15   basically each ride is free

way cheaper than a newer bike that looses $10,000 in value over 10 years with less rides.
Compare that to renting a Harley for $250 per weekend.

I did the same calculations for my pagoda and after 4 years with prices going up its paying me each time I drive it.

Mario, looks fantastic.  Can't believe 21 months have gone by.   I recall reading that you were starting this resto with Gus and then trying to decide on color.   Nice choice.     I would have guessed that was a year ago.

Ian, looks like you saved that "beer stained napkin."   We will take any justification we can to spend on our drug of choice.

Hi Mario,  I,m a bit late to the party but wow, she's a real beauty.  I hope you do drive her and enjoy the looks and admiration you will get.
Can you tell me what leather was used and maybe where your restorers purchased it, looks like a perfect match for mine, i just need to do the top of the dash and a couple of other small parts.
Congratulations.
Ray

Hello Ray. The leather is Cognac and it came from GAHH.

Thanks all for the comments!  And rest assured, I am driving her. She was a hit at a Cars and Coffee event last weekend. Happy Holidays all!

gorgeous car- now the question is to whether to use it or just let it appreciate.  I suspect unlike used motorbikes 113s will continue to appreciate and it will take quite some time/use for that car to fall from a pedestal.  Enjoy it and I suspect it will only gain in value regardless of how much you use it!
