I had commented on the transmission in the original thread. Is there no way to get the older thread back? I would like to know if this is an original G76/27-A5 transmission, and if so, if it came on this car from factory; or if it is a recreation of a G76/27-A5 by combining a G76/27-A4 and a 5 speed transmission as found on 6 cylinder cars of the era (like I did on my coupe). The BBB reports on a G76/27-A5 transmission for the 3.5 coupe but the story goes that it was never fitted on any W111 Coupes at the factory. A very limited number of these transmissions were fitted on German Government and Diplomatic cars, and later on some r107 chassis cars. If that coupe came from factory with that trans, it would be an absolute rarity. I guess the build fiche would mention it.

Very nice car, in any case!

hello,

I would like to detach the speedometer of my  1970 280 SE 3.5 and would appreciate on how to do this correctly. Thanks for any help you could provide.

Car looks almost the same though the shift lever is at the steering wheel.

Regards,

Ashok
