Title: 230 SL Heater Blend Flaps - How to attach control cables?
Post by: rjmarco on September 16, 2013, 04:13:04
Dear Forum Friends,

I have my whole dash apart to rebuild the heater elements.  I've had the heater core refurbished and reinstalled in the car.  I have also had four new heater control levers installed and we are about to have the shop reattached the lever control cables to the two blend flaps.  The question is how do these cables attach?

The technician thinks there should be an e-clip or a c-clip that secures the control cable to the stud on the flap.  It looks like the stud has a groove to accept this but we're not sure.

Anyone have any experience with this?  Sorry if my terminology is a little off!!

Regards,

Rich

You can see the clips that you need on the left side of the photo of my heater control. The technical manual has lots of good info and K and K sent me a how to sheet when I purchased the new levers from them. I am sure they would send you a copy of the directions.

The cable ends should be coiled into a loop that goes over the stud and then they are secured bhy C-clips or E-clips (metric!).

Thanks for the prompt replies.  These were most helpful.

Mercedes Classics is looking for the c-clips.  They think they have them.
