So we went to a car show yesterday (Anthracite and I). It was the fifteenth annual Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance in Malvern, PA http://www.radnorconcours.org/ (http://www.radnorconcours.org/). I was afraid of the possibility of rain all day but we went against my better judgment and drove to the event. We left the house around 7:00 in the morning for the hour drive to the event. We ran into a light mist just after we left but it could have just been the fog we were driving through as small water droplets collected on the windshield. We arrived just after 8:00 and proceeded to wipe the wet grass off the tires and the few bugs off the windshield and the front end of the car.
The event was well attended as the cloud cover kept the temperatures cool throughout the day until the sun poked out a little around 3:00 in the afternoon.
I always get a kick watching the spectators looking over Anthracite and the smile on their faces as they view her. Many people stopped by numerous times throughout the day and I spoke to most of those that showed an interest in her, and there were many.
At 3:00 the award ceremony started so I finally left Anthracite alone sitting on the show field and wandered up to the trophy staging area. There were so many different categories of awards but the one Anthracite was judged in was the "European Post War Classic" category. She got the Radnor Hunt trophy for her category which means she won second place, there were only two trophies for each category. The first place award went to another Mercedes it was a mid to late 60’s model, a 300SE convertible that was brought to the event by Bob Platz, a restorer of vintage Mercedes cars, who was also one of the 25 or so judges of the event.
We arrived home last night around 6:00 and within the hour it started to rain.
