Pagoda World Issue 12 (http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=11536.msg100058#msg100058) is now at the printers and should finally be in the mail by next week.
Issue 12 is officially the 2010 issue, so we should expect Issue 13 sometime later this year-- probably soon after PUB 2011. As mentioned elsewhere, I've been swamped with completing my PhD (I'll finally be walking around in my wizard outfit this Saturday), and Pagoda World has been one of the many victims. Apologies to all the membership.
In general, our production schedule is strongly dependent on the availability of good material for publication, which is primarily supplied by the membership: YOU. We can all have a direct impact on this by contributing quality articles for publication. In the next few days, I'll be putting up detailed article submission guidelines to facilitate the process of contribution.
Issue 12 is packed with great material, and I hope most of you will appreciate the many improvements in layout and print quality. Feedback is always appreciated; you can send me a personal message, or through the forum.
Regards to all,
-waqas

Waqas: I just sent this message to editor@sl113.org and it came back as "No mailbox at this location." So, here is my message for all to see.
Congratulations on a very well done issue of Pagoda World. The reproduction quality seems much better than past issues. Did you go to offset printing from a color laser printer? Coverage of The European Event was great, too. Laura and I attended that event and had a marvelous time. I was the photographer for the big group picture (or at least I believe that was the one I setup and took as I am not actually in the picture).
On a separate note. In the future I am open to receiving Pagoda Notes as an electronic file ONLY. The reproduction of the copy that is mailed is not nearly as good as what I can printout on my own printer at home. If you have an "opt-out" for the mailed edition, I choose that to (1) save the club the costs of printing and postage and (2) get a better quality printout. Our local Mercedes-Benz Club of America (San Francisco Bay Area Section) now sends to about 2/3 of our members an electronic newsletter each month and it makes a big difference in our costs as well as in timely delivery of the newsletter.
Best regards,
Richard
P.S. A possible article for Pagoda World or Pagoda Notes would be to have Albrecht Stachel discuss the 1-2-3 Ignition System that he now distributes. He presented this at the MBCA StarTech in late April and it was a really interesting topic. The 1-2-3 Ignition System builds a complete, high-tech, ignition system into the basic distributor, but offers lots of electronic controls that improve driveability and performance without having an external electronic ignition module to corrup the appearance of our prized W113s. This would also be a good topic for PUB, because Stachel is in Wisconsin and could easily make his way to PUB in Blacklick, OH. /rs

Hi Dr. Akram,
I'm a new member and just received my first Pagoda World (No.12). What a shock! Right there on page 2, "A Pagoda Restoration Story: Part 2", by Bob Possel. Just when I needed it. I'm starting on my 67 230 SL and am at about the middle of paragraph 2 on my car. What a gift for me. I'm going to read this story many, many times and probably post questions about this restoration. I'm so excited, I haven't even searched to see if there is a thread on the forum about this restoration.
It's a beautiful issue. All the photos are incredibly well reproduced and the stories are great.
Thanks for your excellent efforts.

Kudos to all involved. ..

Hello Achim,
I wasn't surprised when I saw that we have only 2 forum members in Germany. Don't you think the language would be an issue? Imagine how quickly this forum would break down if we tried to merge with a german-language forum. I read german a bit and belong to pagodentreff.de and there are plenty of Pagodas there. Perhaps there are even other german-language forums that I am not aware of.
-
Hallo Achim
so i sign today as a new member, now there are 3 in Germany ;D
My English in not the best, so its not easy for me to read and write. But it is a good practice for me to learn it better.
Now i am happy to get my first Pagoda World and meet other Pagoda driver like Naj.

Willkommen Peter! Deine englische Sprache ist besser dann mein Deutsch! see what I mean...
Great job Waqas and all on PW! Looks fantastic.

Hi
Just got my copy this morning and - as usual - read it from A to Z. Great publication and very interesting topics. The pleasure was somewhat greater when I read that this is the only copy landed here in Poland. I wish there were more full members from here (there are about 20-30 Pagodas in Poland), but it doesn't score bad.... even compared to the country of origin of our beloved W113 :)
thanks for your efforts

received mine as well. Great Job!
-
received mine yesterday, great pics . thanks
-
Pulled mine out of my PO Box this morning and it was the first thing opened with I got to my office. Then the rest of the day was pretty busy, so not enough goof off time to read one article. Thumbing through the pages, I'm impressed with the publication. Is there a way to get back issues? I'd like to get a copy of Part 1 of Bob Possell's restoration.
Rolland

Rolland,
Part 1 of Possel's restoration was published in PW #11. If you want to purchase this issue then please follow the instructions here:

Just got mine yesterday, told the kids to go play (quietly) by themselves. I'm really impressed with the quality - both in terms of the content and the "feel" of the magazine. Thanks a lot :-)

Thanks all for the kind comments. My goal is to keep improving the magazine with each issue, and for this I need help from everyone to provide good quality articles with great looking photographs. Take a moment to think about how you can contribute for the next issue. We all have some knowledge about these cars that we can share, so please start writing!
Best regards,
-Waqas
ps. As promised, here's my wizard outfit:
-
Congratulations Doctor Waqas and thankyou for an excellent Pagoda World. I especially like the quality of the photographs, none of that grainyness you often see in some publications. I didn't see it posted, what topic or study is your doctorate?
-
I received mine yesterday and was really impressed. Reading the article on the restoration was really interesting and inspiring.
