Title: W111 small parts catalog wanted - found
Post by: wwheeler on April 30, 2010, 15:09:07
Does anybody know of an available parts catalog for my '68 280 SE 111 coupe? This is the small version that does not have the part numbers.

Thank you!

I do not have an extra, but I think the one you are looking for is catalog #12144 Type 250SE/C - 280 SE/C 1968. Patience and vigilance on ebay or perhaps Roth auto books, Walter Miller or books4cars might have one.

Thanks for the info Johnny!

Knowing that part number and description saved me from buying a 108 book. The trick with the description is making sure that it has 280 SE/C (111) not 280 S/SE (108). The part number is for the 1968 year and the later year books that are about the same, have higher part numbers than #12144. The one I bought has an orange cover where as the 70s books have a black covers.

I have a fairly large collection of old dealer parts books. Many of them are for old trucks and things that no one would need or want anymore but some of them are quite useful. I have a 250SEc book along with the 220SEb which shares the sedan body parts with the coupe.

Most of the old part numbers still work but many have been changed up and some have seen several changes over the years. I find the exploded diagrams very useful for identifing parts as well as assembly.

If you need a certain part number I might be able to help you out. I also have quite a few spare pieces from several cars I've parted down.

Why not just use the EPC?

Hello Wallace,

It just dawned on me that I have the book your looking for tucked away in one of the spare bedroom dresser drawers. Is this what you are looking for? The condition is "crisp" or excellent. This came from chassis serial number 111024-12-001213 sold in Seattle with a warranty start date of 10-7-68. How close is the serial number to yours?

Unfortunately, I already found a book. Those are hard to come by and probably worth some money if you want to sell it. Thank you so much for the offer.

When I bought my car, it had the wrong parts book (#12803) catalog B printed in 1971 with a black cover. This catalog is for the 108 body and should be right for your car. The nice thing about this book is that it has the "SA" optional stuff in the back. If you are interested, let me know.

Wallace,

Thanks for the offer but my parts book is in very good condition.

I see what you mean by "worth some money", there is one on eBay at the moment with a starting price of $199.00  :o and it doesn't look as good as the one I have.
