Title: accelerator pedal pivot
Post by: 230SL on March 24, 2010, 00:50:36
Does anyone have a picture of the accelerator pedal pivot which i think is welded to the floor board? The car was started as a project a long time ago with no evidence of where anything goes pictures and distance from firewall to welded stop would be a plus. I know the newer Mercedes 90's used the plastic at the bottom of the pedal as a pivot but this seems to have 2 sphere like objects like those of the accelerator linkage or kick down linkage on newer Mercedes 90's.

A bracket with two pins is welded to the floor.  The center line of the bracket  is 14" from the left frame rail and 21 1/2" foward of the front seat rail.  That is x/y location..measure w/carpet.  The pins have round balls at  the top that fit  the base of the rubber gas pedal.

Make sure the pedal hits the kickdown switch when fully depressed. That is very important and critical to positioning.

And make sure you use the correct and now difficult to locate pedal!

Thanks for the quick replies and pictures its really going to help out alot.  I actually ended up ordering the bottom support and pedal from K & K manufacturing so far they have been very helpful and knowlegable in helping me get parts for my 230SL. Still cant't belive the pedal from Mercedes Benz Dealer was $580.00 :o and they no longer make the bottom bracket al least here in Westchester NY thats the story.
