Title: 1971 280SE/A w108 018 (130 016 08 01)

I have a 1971 280SE (W108 018) head # M130 016 08 01 which I am rebuilding the engine for (straight six).  I have trying to find a detailed manual to help me.  I noticed that you have a lot of information here for the w113.  I am not very familiar with these cars, so please forgive me.  Can I use the technical manual for the cylinder head, engine, etc to help me with my W108?  Are the engines in these cars about the same, except maybe horsepower?

I look forward to your feedback.  Thanks in advance.

Shadesh

Hello Shadesh,

The head on the sedans and SLs are exactly the same. Most of the other mechanicals are also.  This is the best site on the internet for information on these straight six, mechanically injected M130 engines.

There are two major differences in all the 280 series engines, an early version  and a late version. Look your head number up on our "cylinder head chart" and you will see that you have the latter engine (oval combustion chamber).

Just keep asking questions, you will get plenty of help.
