Title: Hydro-pneumatic compensator
Post by: calrefugee on December 10, 2008, 02:57:22
The 111 rear end that I am contemplating using for the 230SL has a fresh-looking hydro-pneumatic compensator - has anyone tried installing that in a 113?  Assuming it fits space-wise of course...

The 230SL weighs in around 1300 kgs, and the 280SE coupe only weighed about another 100 kgs so the weight difference seems reasonable.

Thoughts on this?  I had one of the Boge compensators on a 108 and that worked great.

Quike a long time ago when I first got my 280SL .I ran a post in collector car magazine and got  a phone call from a member who used a compensator instead of the rear spring he claimed thee ride was much more taunt . This was a 1968 280SL five Speed.
