Title: diagram for solenoid
Post by: 3523pleigh on December 01, 2008, 16:42:02
I need the electrical diagram for the solenoid on the 230 transmission. Can anyone can help with this. The transmission was completely rebuilt by a train mechanic. It did shift rough afterwards. I had a modulator valve installed. Now the transmission slips and up shifts and down shifts erratically. Any ideas?  Phil

The only thing missing at the http://www.mercedesdismantlers.com/16BoltInstallationInstructions.html site is the positive + feed for the idling switch on the throttle body bringing power from fuse # 3. Other than that it is complete and accurate.

Phil,
here is a wiring diagram

Pressure switches #7 and #8 activate the constant speed solenoid #6 when the transmission is placed in forward or reverse.  Later version W113s with automatic transmissions  and AC had no pressure switches. The same constant speed solenoid was used but was activated when the  AC was switched on.

Joe: Dumb question. On later auto 113's does the CSS not engage when the car is put into gear? Only if A/C is switched on?

Just out of curiousity, is your fuel injection linkage set up properly. As I have just found out improper linkage adjustments can cause havoc on proper transmission shift operation.

Gus, I have a 280sl without a/c and the css engages in drive or reverse. It does so by completing ground in one of two pressure switches located on either side of the transmission.
