Cant see how scrap is worth more than these cars; wouldnt no reserve ebay listings bring more?

This is some years old and yes they did try to do a recovery of the most valuable cars. I think in the end the owners agreed to start the crush from the newest cars backwards.

Hello,
The last time I was there, there were at least 1,800 Mercedes parts cars. I heard a lot of these cars have already been cushed. How old are your pictures? Yes, quite a site to see. You cannot imagine all the goodies, standard transmissions, automatic transmissions, differentials, engines, cylinder heads, brake boosters, nice little option items, chrome bits, radios, wheels, I could cry to think these are all going for the price of scrap metal!

The same thing happened in Arizona a few years ago with Tri Star Pete. :(

What a shame. History being entoomed . think of the wealth of pricless parts and information many of us, as enthusiast and restores could of gained. Parts from historic to bring back to life some of Daimler- Benz greatest acheivments in the motoring world . Such a shame!!

So what is keeping us from going out there to salvage all of the good parts? Having say a group of 8-10 volunteers collect the hundreds of pieces worth saving in a few days? I suppose it takes someone to decide to make the investment and a storage facillity to put all of these parts.

As Garry said... this information is a few years old. It's one of those news items that keeps rearing up it's ugly had now and then...
