Hello Every One,
I Was wondering if anyone knows the paint code on the 280 SL, pictured in the Merdith book "Original Mercedes SL" The restore's Guide.. , Page 68 And if it is an original color, did it come with gray interrior?
Also if it anybody has photo's of such a combination It'll be great, since am restoring my 280 and cannot make up my mind on what color to paint it.
Many Thanks

Hello Malek,
Unfortunately I don't remember that car & color.
I will check for you tonight as I have that book.
Most SL owners/collectors/connoisseurs prefer the original paint code of the particular car. If you choose not to use your original color anymore, try at least to stay with one that was available for our cars.
Talk to you later.

Achim,
The car he's referring to is Nick Kisch's light metallic blue coupe/rdstr -- the one he profiles in "Thoroughbred & Sports Cars." It's a very original 280 SL.

Thank You Douglas and Achim.
I bought my 280 from e-Bay, and shipped it last month from the united states. Fortunatly all its parts were there and original, though the car interior, exterior and engin need work.
I have already re-built the engin, and was lucky to find all the engin parts at Mercedes-Beirut, and it is working perfectly.
I have already dismanteled the car and the work will start on the underside (it Has Some Rust) and the interrior will come from Gahh.
and all rubber, seals and other body parts from Miller-Benz.
The car was painted an Egg-Shell White wich was not a MB color. Its original color is 387 Metallic blue, which I find a bit dark. Hence the search for the silver-Blue in the Merdith book.
I also, have a 190 SL Silver/red , which I totally restored in Lebanon back in 93, and its ALL original including the Becker Auto search "Le Mens" Radio.. it looks and drives like a dream! I'll post a couple of photos if ur interested.
Thanks for your help on the color code, and Achim do not worry I will keep everything including the colors original
Many Thanks & Best Regards,
Malek

Hello Malek, hello Doug.
Thanks for your input again. I found out the the Meredith book I have here in Magdeburg is the "other" one, not the restoration "guide".
Nick Kish's car ... then it should be 934 light metallic blue like Klaus Drexl's car, correct?
Oops, no ... :x Just checked our database and compared with the Wachsmuth homepage about the Glasurit paintcodes. Seems more likely you guys are refering to 396 mittelblau (mid blue) metallic or 906 grey blue metallic.
Oooops.... [:0]

Hello guys,
my car, pictured on the back cover of the latest "Pagoda World", is 906.
I don't have the Meredith book, however.
