I've been meaning (actually, struggling) to post these pix for awhile on behalf of a friend here in the forums. I believe his modesty prevents him from sharing these pix so I'm intervening to share a handsome example of a Pagoda SL. I hope this will serve as a proper introduction to John Shea and his green 280SL.
John hails from Richmond, so some of you have met him at Tom Sargeant's annual barbeque. This 280SL has been owned by two different members of this group. Before John was Steven Harris, who enthusiastically owned it for a couple of years immediately before John.
This is one of the last cars restored by Hatch & Sons outside Boston. It was a very thoroughly documented restoration done to the standards Hatch is known for. In addition, Gernold up at SL Tech changed the interior from Cognac MB Tex to Cognac leather on behalf of Steven.
John purchased the car a couple of years ago and has enjoyed it as-is, with the exception of adding a Nardi wheel, stealth stereo system and a set of bundt-cake alloy wheels restored by Bjorn Nordemann of Sports Leicht.
If I may say so, it's a gorgeous car. It wasn't a basket case when it was restored, so it's actually one of the few fully restored cars I've seen that looks like a survivor.
Take a gander:

Hi Peter,
I use Firefox as my browser on my Mac, so it took me awhile to figure out that no amount of configuring will make it accept my photos. Instead, I went over to Safari and re-sized the images to an acceptable range.

I only use IE for uploading pictures on here. Otherwise, dyed in the wool Firefoxer...

Beautiful car, and those have to be some of the best looking alloys I've seen.
I use Firefox too, to get away from all the spam, spyware, etc. When you upload a picture, copy the link generated in the dialog box. Then in your message click on the "insert hyperlink" or "insert image" button and paste your new link between the special characters. Of course you must follow all the rules on file size and naming.

Hello Douglas,
Gorgeous car indeed!
BTW, which color is that? I m always struggeling between DB 226 and 268; in this case I'd guess 226, which is a bit lighter than 268.
Perhaps I am wrong again.
Love that Cognac leather (8006)
Best,
-
Ok, I'll play the guessing game: it looks like 268 to me. :)

Douglas,
Is this the same car sold by Motoring Investments last year?
http://www.motoringinvestments.com/WC150.htm
-
Indeed, it is the same car. Motoring Investments sold it to its current owner.
