Has anyone replaced the grommet that passes the 2 wire bundles out the driver's footwell? (This is the grommet next to the clutch line grommet.) Unless the grommet comes partially split, it seems like it would be quite an ordeal to pass the wires.

I replaced mine about two weeks ago. Bought a complete grommet and when I looked at what was needed for fitting the two items thru it decided to split the grommet. Cut out a small circle in the centre as well and then fitted the whole item into place. It went in quite easily. To ensure that I would get water/air tight, I smeared a small amount of clear silicon on the grommet after fitting.

coincidence-I just called buds about purchasing one-they wanted $35.00 for it-I told them no-way!--I'll use some rubber tape that auto glass shops use-If I did get one,, I too,, would spit it--The hood release cable and windshield washer hose pass thru it.

Michael, we're not talking about the same grommet. The one I'm referring to is near the gas pedal. SLS lists it for 2.52 euros (Article: 299012 - Grommet, 5/25,bulkhead).

I got mine from a local auto store for about $2. It was about 1 inch across, by the time I cut out a V split and circle in the centre it just squeezed up into the hole around the cables just fine

Andy,
The way I did mine was to spray silicon spray in the rubber boot. Then slide one wire/plug through at a time. Once one wire/plug is through, the next one only has to compete with the wire, not plug, if pushed forward enough. Use plenty of silicon spray, then wipe dry. Once both wires are pushed through, then install the grommet into the hole on the floor. I used a plastic wedge tool to help push the edges of the grommet into the hole, working my way around until all the rubber was pushed in.

Bob, there a 2 wire bundles passing thru this grommet. One bundle can be interrupted at the 2-prong plug that is clipped to the undercarriage. But the other bundle originates high under the dash, traverses the footwell, dives thru the footwell hole, snakes up the side of the tranny, joins another wire bundle to a connector on top of the tranny, etc, etc. I can't find a convenient spot to get the grommet over the wire without cutting something, ie grommet or wires.

You basically need to disconnect the entire wire harness to replace these grommets (without splitting the grommet). A couple weeks ago I pulled the entire harness into the cabin side (car is getting repainted). I plan on replacing all the firewall grommets using the kit from SLS.

At this point, I dont think we are all taking about the same area?
The 2 main wire harness grommets that come through the firewall by the brake booster may need to be split. The one on the footwell where the kickdown wires pass through, I was able to keep this whole (no split) and simply pass the wires through. I may have removed the plug housing (?) from the kickdown switch, but that was simple to do and the rest of the wires passed right through...
