Well I just had new shocks rotors and pads put on. I wanted to have the shocks put on before the subframe mounts are done by a specialist. What bushings etc... would you change while the car is on the rack and tore apart?

You'll be disconnecting the brake hoses, so now might be a good time to replace them if necessary. Also, how do the motor mounts look?

Yeah I forgot that the motor mounts are an integral part of the front suspension. So I will do subs,control arms, hoses and spring pads.

I just exchanged the rubber engine mounts on my green 250SL. Picture shows old/new... Metal to metal contact in the two old worn out mounts made the car
somewhat unpleasant to drive at times... a noticeable frame vibration.
Now gone :)
Note: Be sure to change third, rear mount (at gearbox) as well.
My rear mount was changed by the PO

Thanks for the info wagas and mbze. Previous owner only had the oil/lube done for 17 years since he only drove it 7,000 miles. I think I will buy spring pads, subs, cabushings, motor mounts, hoses and tranny mount. It probably be easier/cheaper to do it all in one fell swoop instead of piece work. Then the suspension will be tight, and the engine and trans are strong. Which means that the flaws in the body will have to be addresed and the chrome and stainless will need attention :D

Actually, the springs don't come into play when you replace the subframe or motor mounts, so you might want to save spring pad replacement for a time when the kingpins and/or link pins are operated on (assuming they need work).

So the job is basically like doing a 107? Back when I had more motor skills I did all of the mounts on my 350 .
