while I was bolting in my heater core, I had to remove some kind of radio looking box bolted with brackets onto the firewall---under the passenger side -I dont have a scanner, but I will describe it----It's metal-about 10- inches by 4 inches-writing on it says-------6/12 umschaltanweisung an Deckel Innenseite-----then below that it says-6/12 change-over instructions in cover inside 150 E 9000- 04-Ithere are wires that I cut years ago-I think it was something to do with the original radio-help if anyone knows

Sounds like the amp to a Becker radio to me.

I agree with Douglas. The "umschaltanweisung an Deckel Innenseite" translates to "change-over instructions in cover inside" meaning to switch it between 6 and 12 volts, look at the instructions inside the cover. Sounds like an amp for a radio.

Absolutely put it on eBay, or at least post a picture and put it on this forum. I went through quite a struggle to get the radio mounting bracket that bolts to the back of the radio and clips to the back of the firewall. (Thanks Walter for helping me out!!!). Someone needs and wants this part!

i dont use e-bay-I'm pretty much dumb, when it comes to computers------I'll keep the part-don't really know why anyone would want a antiquated thing like this. the becker radio was horrible!

That could apply to the entire car...

A few people have hidden installations of modern sound systems (under seat, in trunk, etc). Perhaps you should consider something similar.
I say hidden because no one in their right mind would drive these cars with longhorns on the hood, spoiler on the trunk, or modern radio in the dash.... :)

Does it look like the box sitting on top of the radio in this photo?
Don't throw it away, post it in the items for sale forum here if you don't want to use ebay, it's free and somebody here may be looking for one and you could make a few bucks to boot, plus you won't be adding to the local landfill :)

I would be interested in the brackets. Would you consider just parting with the brackets alone? If so e-mail me.
