I have heard thru the Gullwing Group Mr Weston Hook has Passed away. He is the gentleman that owned the PininFarina 230SL. He was one of the most unique and personable individuals and I wish I had had more time speaking with him over the last few years. Mark Passarelli

Here's a photo of the late Mr. Hook and Bob Geco in front of his one-off 230SL:

Thanks for letting us know, Mark.

Sorry to hear the bad news about Weston Hook. He was a very charming and always joking around . Such a humble man with all his wealth a regular person who talk to you not down at you. Weston and his wife will alway be remembered from the Fashion Island shows. Weston owned many expensive cars but the two fond ones I remember are his early purple 300SL gullwing and his 230SL Italian one off SL.
I will miss his humor as he he always seemed to be friend people no matter their status in life . A wonderfull person who will be miss by all who had the change to now him and be touched by his humor.

Purple 300SL? That must be the Adrian Conan Doyle restoration that Paul Russell did awhile back:

Lynn Yankel of Lyco Engineering also passed away last week. Anyone who has anything to do with 300SL's would know him.
Very nice guy who would help anyone. He certainly helped me when I did a '62 roadster a few years ago.
