Post by: tobacco on July 25, 2008, 06:47:26

There's a feature in the Market sidebar of the July 21 AutoWeek on a 1969 280 SL, which sold in England for $46,800:

The Gazette - which is the UK MB Club monthly publication (Like "The Star") has classified ads for  3 W113s for sale this month. All are this price or more.

http://www.silverarrows.co.uk/Car5/car.htm. This is a nice car - needs a good tidy, some notch work etc to win anything amongst the cognoscenti on here.... $80k

Tosh, I am just in the (very) early stages of looking for a pagoda to replace my wifes 230 SLK. This one is a bit out of my price range, but I would be very interested in knowing what you have spotted from the photo that "needs a good tidy" and what does "some notch work" mean?.

Odd

we replaced a 230SLK with a Pagoda. I'll keep an eye out for you

And do a search on "notch" on here and you'll see what they are. The car in question had none...

Considering in this months issue of Sports Car Market by Keith Martin a Gullwing with a roaster engine much the same share as the Garnett 280SL sold for $557,000 and Ferrari's are commanding out ragious four to five million dollar price tags at  auction, The 280SL was a bargin.

I do not for see prices on our SL going down.
