James,

Beautiful ponton sedan, give us the story.  Did you just double your collection?

No Pete, nothing that exciting. I spotted the car in Nevada City a few weeks back, and yesterday while on my Memorial Day Drive, saw it again and whipped in for a picture. It appears original (ie could use some interior work) but is very complete. Body & chrome very decent I'd say. It is in the lot of a old muffler shop, perhaps waiting for some new pipes. Any one want me to pry? (the owner not the door lock...)

Its a 190D -- would that make it about a 1959 or 1960?

And here I thought I was the only one who would pull up next to cool old cars owned by complete strangers and take pictures...

Perhaps it's time to start a thread entitled "My pagoda next to..."

Hello James,

last weekend was the meeting of IG Ponton in Wetzlar, the oldest Mercedes-Mark-Club in Germany. Check here in my forum.

Hey Waqas, what's worse is when I see a Pagoda parked, and then whip an immediate u-turn and promptly crawl underneath to see what the floorpans look like. The kids think I am whacked... (the wife knows it!   )

And thanks for the link Detlef. This was the first one I ever actually looked at upclose. Very cool. In fact, stopped by there today because the place was open. A frankly crabby mechanic said it was not his but a customer getting brakes. Not for sale that I could gather...
