Title: Color of leather on steering wheel center
Post by: ronh on May 26, 2008, 05:52:47: I have installed red leather for the interior of a 230 SL. Does the center steering wheel leather follow the seat and dash red leather or are these center rings all black?

Post by: Douglas on May 26, 2008, 07:23:42: The steering wheel was originally one color. The padded center should match the steering wheel and not the interior.

In the photo you can see the original mittleblau M/B Tex on the left. It took a considerable amount of effort to shape and form the maroon leather into the concave recess, but I got good results. I think it looks great when it matches the seat covers.

I can send you the stamping die if I can find it!.

Hello Larry,
can I get in line too for that tool?
How did you wrap the leather around the perimeter of the foam doughnut?

Post by: KevinC on June 07, 2008, 08:47:05: If you are going for originality, black for a black steering wheel, ivory for an ivory wheel. Sounds like yours should be black.
