Title: CSV jets
Post by: awolff280sl on May 24, 2008, 16:06:48
I finally managed to open up the clogged fuel jet nozzles in my cold start device after a week of soaking, air pressure, and heat.    However,  the jet nozzles' "housing" has come out of the small brass(?) pipe/tube that holds it. I don't know what is supposed to secure the jets from slipping out of the tube. There are no threads.  When I insert the jets' housing back into the tube, it is loose enough that the fuel pressure would pop it into the manifold.

Hi Andy,

Been a long time since I worked on mine.  Could be the material is brass and the fitting can be soldered to hold it in place.  Not sure.

I'm trying some Permatex high temp sleeve retainer. I'll test it out before putting the CSV back. I've got a feeling that something like that may have been originally used because I can find no other means that this nozzle was held in place originally, AND it wasn't until I heated it that it loosened. I never pryed or torqued it so there is no deformation. The tolerance is pretty good still, sort of an interference fit, and I think the sleeve retainer stuff may work.
Any other/better ideas?

Maybe try running a thread tap into the hole to knurl fit it a little. Or maybe try to thread the brass jet to get a little knurl there also. I think you need some friction fit in addition to the glue.
