Title: Great Restoration Source
Post by: mdsalemi on May 06, 2008, 07:54:55
No, this does NOT belong in "vendor experiences" since I don't have any direct experience with them--yet.

In the past, I've mentioned in various posts, many sources I've found for peculiar or interesting vendors, places such as Small Parts, Grainger, various fastener suppliers, etc.  Others have mentioned McMaster-Carr, and other suppliers too.

Here's another I just found--MSC.  They appear to be quite large and why they've never shown up on my radar screen or internet searches is beyond me.  They just sent a sales flier (probably from some address list they bought) and I contacted them for a full catalog.

Wow.  It's about 4" thick, printed on very thin paper--over 4,500 pages of everything--fasteners, tools, you name it.  It is considerably larger and more detailed than Grainger.

They have a website and when you are looking for something interesting that would have you go to McMaster or Grainger, these guys too are worth a look before you give up.

I know MSC well. They are a superb source of hardware. Unfortunately, they closed their retail store that was on Long Island (they're local to me) and do things strictly mail (web) order and by phone.
