Title: Los Angeles W113 Sightings
Post by: Ostkurve on April 20, 2008, 12:30:35
Last week on Friday I saw several 280SL's throughout the day. The first two I saw on West Channel Rd. & PCH, one '68 or '69 black 280SL with tan top, this car was immaculate and had undergone an extensive restoration.

Shortly thereafter I saw a silver 280SL with black with interior on Ocean Park which would be described as a driver or a survivor,an original example in need of cosmetic restoration .

I saw a handfull of other W113's as I made my way across town & finally on Melrose & Highland travelling Westbound I saw a diamond blue metallic '70 & '71 280SL being driven by a woman as a roadster.

In the past two weeks I've started to see several W113's,more so than in the past. It seems as though there has been a resurgence in the car's popularity in the Los Angeles area.

However it is actually refreshing to see them actually being driven.

Sure alot of W113s to site in one day. Are you sure!! it might of been a very luck day to see so many of our cars in one day. But that is not surprising sometimes I see one or two in a month andsome times I will spot a nice fintail. I was told by a mechanic the key to keeping these cars running is driving them keep them running.
I guess he's right after all most of them are orgianl and have a 100,000 on the clock but keep on ticking away, that is with proper service.

I see 280SL's in LA all the time.  I'm usually cruising around Hollywood in my green 280SL.  I saw a white/blue in Larchmont and a black/red in Hollywood recently.
