Title: Photos 71 280
Post by: Sam SL on April 19, 2008, 14:42:03
Hello all;

Here's a survivor '71 280, the 41st last one to come off the line during the last week of production.  I owned it since 2002 when it had 57k miles.  It now has 72k miles.  Originally delivered new in Ohio, the third owner moved to Colorado, then sold to fourth owner in Alberta Canada.  Looking at the full documented service history, the car appears to have always been cherished.  The color is a dark green, a few shades deeper than British Racing.

I love that Paint picture! I'd love it if you'd submit that for the Coffee Table Book (http://index.php?topic=8547).

Gorgeous.  Thanks for sharing those photos Sam.  And to second Peter's comment, especially that last one.

I've had the privilage of spending a lot of time in Canada, particularly in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island.  Wonderful people, and what a terrific area to enjoy your beautiful '71 280SL.

Hi Sam,

Nice looking car.  The green looks like 291H Dark Olive, similar to my 280 which has a similar soft top color combination. Good to see it is used a lot and not just for show.

Ditto!  That is the kind of shot that belongs in the "images.." thread, too.

Your car seems to have survived pretty well! Congratulations.

Thanks for your compliments.  I am seriously thinking about the 'book'.  From my understanding it would cost me between $95 to $190 to participate.  I like the idea, I like Pagodas I like the energy/enthusiasm and I am conflicted with the concept about having to pay for my picture to be used as I am a professional photographer.  I want to show you another picture of a shot I get lots of attention on.  I also want to show the 'painted radio' shot in its full frame which I think looks a little better.  By the way, I like someone's idea about having a 2 page spread for photos, like if you open up a magazine and one horizontal photo takes up both sides.

Wow Paul, I can't believe you did your bathroom tile in the image of your Pagoda!  How did you get the wife to go along?  :D

Sam, the $95-$190 is just the production cost of the book. No-one will get paid for photographs, time or effort put into the book. We'll just all buy a high-quality coffee book full of images of one anothers Pagoda's. I think we really need your efforts as a pro-photographer to add into it. Think of it as a gift to yourself  :)

Anyway, I like the Mustang photograph too... now all you need to do is produce one similarly of the Pagoda...
