I am trying to find a replacement clip for the one in the photos.
it looks like 2 u shaped pieces of metal connected at the center of the u.
this clip holds the radiator overflow tube in place over the passenger side heater tube.
I sent a photo to the mb classic center with no reply.
also searched bud benz web site and sls.
thanks in advance
matt

Great looking engine Matt. Is that new cad plating? If you find that clip please order one for me as mine broke too. Do you want my broken clip? Maybe you could put together the good parts with a pop rivet.

Pete,
I wish that was a photo of my engine bay. I found that photo online.
Someday I will have my engine bay finished out

Dave Gallon identified the part for me.
the part # is 000 995 00 65
according to Dave this part is only correct for 230 sl's

I am reviving this topic because a member of the German group is asking whether it is worthwhile to reproduce this double-headed clamp. He would have to buy 100 in order to offer it to members for Euro 16 = about $22.
Anyone out there who needs one for a 230SL/250SL?
-
Can you revive the photos to remind us what the clip looks like?
-
Attached are the pix,
and this one shows where it is located:

This would indeed be a worthwhile item to reproduce. I have thought of using a more modern plastic version from a Japanese make vehicle on my Pagoda, but an original style item would be even better!
-
I would also be interested in buying one of these clips should an effort be made to reproduce them.
-
The double-headed clamp is available again from one of our members here for 20Euro plus shipping (I believe).

Hello,
I am offering the double-clips.
The price is 25 Euro + 4 Euro shipping.
I offered the double-clips at first in our german pagoda forum for 20 Euro, but I had to raise the price.
Thanks,
Memmo

I don't know about that price...from anyone.
Looks to me like a couple of very inexpensive clips, riveted together with two washers in between. That's what I'm seeing...
-
Wow Michael,
you outdid yourself again!
Where do you find the correct spring steel and the correctly sized rivet?
Of course you can find some odd looking clamps, and you might not even need rivets to put them together, probably a rubber band or perhaps some chewing gum might just be about perfect. ;D
Try to make a replica and show and tell us, will ya please?

Hi,
it is no problem, you can use what you like. Some people are happy to get the chance to buy them.
I have sold more than 40 in the german Forum. Why no other Seller offer them? Because it is much work to make the double-clip in the perfect quality.

I will do my best to make one, and if I succeed (I am not generally in the hose-clamp buying mode) I'll post it here. But who ever is making them, at 40 euros they ought to be properly plated, don't you think? Black paint? Come on, not even remotely close.
I'm not sure precisely what your photos are of either, but there are hand rivet tools a whole lot easier to use for those that want to make a few of something, or one. Heck, we have folks here doing their own body work and paint work!
-
Hi Michael,
Sorry for my english, but you must learn to read.
I have sold more than 40 pieces not 40 Euro! ;)
Good luck I am looking forward to see your part.
;)

I love the insults from the Germans...
Yes, my mistake, 40 pieces, not 40 Euros. 29 Euros, post paid. That's nearly $38 and still quite expensive.
Also, another mistake--after looking closely, it appears as if the clamp is not painted black, but black oxide finish.
With all the complaints directed towards MB about parts prices, this still is a simple part, and quite costly. I would suggest that rising parts price complaints should not be limited to Mercedes-Benz.
-
Michael,
you are stupid in my opinion.
Change your Hoby and buy a plastik Car or Build yourself a Car.
Quality is not cheap, it is expensive but only for you!
;)
-
Michael,
you talk like womens at drinking coffee!
Don't talk show me your quality part.
You are also blind, the Part is not painted, is is chemical make black. I didn't know the english Word for it.
Make them and I will laugh!
;))))))))
-
No need for personal insults.
Brings to mind the expression "you can always tell a German, but you can't tell him much".

I am Sorry, but what is the Problem?
If he want he can buy if he didn't want why he talk to much.
When the part it is an easy product, why nobody make it since some years.
Michael is the problem, he make trouble for nothing. A lot of people can talk but not all can make what they talk.

Micheal, you can be a bit too aggressive at times.
There are plenty of people in this world who don't have the skill or ability to make something from scratch so please don't knock those that can. If you can't say anything nice, say nothing at all.
-
Stick,
back to the part and a question for you.
The EPC shows that RHD 230SL need 2 of the clamps (LHD only 1) and I was wondering whether you know where they go?
Also W111 RHD coupes and cabrios need 1, but not LHD - go figure.
-
To be frank I've never seen that clip before (in metal at least). I've had a look at several cars and none of them have it. I shall endeavour to find out though!
-
and now available in the USA!

Stick: Two Terry's (made in UK) 14mm tool clips riveted together do the trick. About $2. give or take.
