Hey you Tech Gurus... This is a general but related question: Is there a way to save "You Tube" clips to one's hard drive?

Yeah there is. And it's often illegal. I'd have to kill you after I told you. I use a FireFox extension (so it won't work with M$ IE) called Downloadhelper (http://www.downloadhelper.net). You may need to convert video formats afterwards.

Oops... I'm coming to get you...  ;)

James,

There are a number of ways to do it and quality, options, and ease of use will vary because like they say you get what you pay for.... but here is a link to a free one you can use with IE that will do the trick. Remember to use it responsibly and not record copyrighted materials.

Thanks gents. The truth be known: I wanted to download the You Tube W113 230SL Pagoda Roadster clip to my Ipod (you know, the one where Arnold Schwarzenegger's Grandfather lifts the off the hardtop...)

I don't know why -- just thought it would be cool to have on there...

Simply download the application Tubesock (think it's 20,- USD) then copy-paste the url from YouTube directly into it and save - it will then download the clip to your harddisk.
