Don't jump on me for this but since I am in the process of detailing my engine compartment, it would seem to pull things together well if I can get some of the fittings and fasteners and plates of the injection pump CAD plated with my other engine parts. I know from these forums that there are some things on the injection pump that are off-limits and should not be touched. So without going into shark waters, I would like some advice from those of you who know best what is safe to remove without throwing the pump out of wack. Some of you will say "If it ain't broke, don't mess with it". But it is out of the car and if I can, now would be the time to do it. Attached is a diagram with number references taken directly off the SLS website. Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you mount it on the dash?-a thing of beauty!

Hi Frank,
I think you can remove most of the external parts on the pump except for the actuator arm that connects to the throttle linkage as the position is pre set to deliver the correct mixture.

Bob, your's looks great! where did you get the blue plastic caps? I'm about to do something similar to what Frank is doing and I've been looking for them.

50% probability that a PO has 'adjusted' this arm. :) :)

Hey Mark,
That is a pic I saw on the net. It is beautiful!
The plastic caps look like something you would find on a gas fitting.

The round filter next to where the lines attach has a paper element and cannot be plated. Someone before me plated mine and it destroyed the paper leaving a disc of metal that flopped around and intermittantly blocked the warm up air passage. Real pain to find.

That filter (item #50 in the exploded diagram Bob posted below) is available from M-B and is gold cad plated out of the box. Just got one a couple of months ago.
