From http://www.sl113.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Documents.BBB:
quote:
Werkstatthandbuch PKW-Typen ab Baujahr 1959
This is available in German only, and covers the following cars:
This does not sound correct. I myself have a copy of this in English (original dealer copy from 1968, MB binder, with color pages printed on glossy paper).

Waqas - what this refers to is that, these days, some of the publications that used to be available in English, can now only be bought from the classic center in German.
But, then, there's the English language CD-ROM that AFAIK also include the BBB - so if that is correct it can still be obtained in English. Oh, and BTW, the BBB acronym was coined to the best of my knowledge by 'our own' David Pease ...

Actually, the information is correct today: have a look at the part numbers and then visit MB. There are two distinct BBB's in German. To deal with a 280 SL you'll need both. There used to be an English language version combining articles from both BBB's that covered the car in its entirety in one volume, but that is no longer available.
So you are selling that English version. If you know the ISBN or part nr, please mail me the details.... I'll add it to the Technical Manual. In fact, I would have liked to have bought it!

Hi! The numbers on this "BBB" are; Bestell-Nr. 6510 1402 13. This book has the newer glossy grey cover with the blue stripe near the top. I have others...the older kind, all bluish-green in color. I think I have a really old one that has a powder blue non-glossy cover. Also have various other old manuals ie; k4 tranny book/a-c supplement etc. Keith

Do I have a "real" BBB or some ersazt copy?
The title of my BBB is "Service Manual Passenger Cars Starting 1968 Series 108 - 109 -111 - 113 Maintenance, Tuning, Unit Replacement"
It has a glossy Green/Blue cover with a white strip for the title.
The Order Number is 6510140413. The quote above gives a BBB Manual number that ends with 213 not 413.
And another Forum message referred to BBB "page 42-9" but my BBB skips from 42-8/10 to 42-10/1. My BBB has no page 42-9. Am I missing pages, are there different editions, or what?

Richard,
the regular use of the term BBB usually means the Service Manual Passenger Cars starting 1968. However, for the W113 the Workshop Manual starting August 1959 is equally important, since it contains info about the early W113 models, and info contained in this book is not duplicated in the later one since it was assumed that you had the earlier one. In the earlier one, 42-9 is "Removal and Installation of Rear Brake Shoes".
On the other hand, if you purchase the CD "Star Classic Service Manual Library, Early Models Volume 4" it contains the info from both Manuals on disk 2.
