Title: cocomats RHD
Post by: paulr on January 29, 2008, 09:17:46
This is a new thread for all the RHD w113 cars out there. I have had a few conversations with Coco mats shown below and on the suggestion of some RHD fellow members will attempt to make a pattern for "us" and maybe ask for a discount if we club together and make a quantity order. Anyway, thoughts and interest below please.

thanks

Problem is with the cut out for accelerator pedal. I think it should be
fairly easy to make good pattern.

good idea..WHEN I have had a look at the pattern making kit, I'll make a post asking for interested orders. i spoke to the very willing and helpful Jeff at Cocomats and mentioned the site so I'm sure he will be up for a discount.

Paul,

Thank you for your message. Good to hear about  www.sl113.org  It is
tough as a small business to get the word out, but the best is happy
customers. Thanks for heads up.

We ship to UK quite a bit. Unfortunately we do not have rhd pattern for
113. We have done 100's of lhd but not one rhd. So if your 113 is rhd,
we would need your help making pattern. I would be happy to send a copy
of our lhd pattern for your review along with tan swatches. Just let me
know. We can send swatches out today.

Sincerely,

Jeff / Cocomats.com

Hi Paul,

Count me in as well.  responded on other thread before realising that there was a new thread. Had been thinking about getting some for a while, I think they look great.

A bit off topic but maybe of interest to the UK guys, my car was first sold in Scotland by the MB dealer in Glasgow and has a small plate on the door step from the dealer.  Dont know how it ended up in Australia!!

Count me in as well, I spoke to these guys last year who also said that to date they hadn't made any RHD versions of their coco mats.

Thanks for trying to help us RHD folks !

Hi Paul,

Count me in, although I did have to smirk at the notion of a "pattern making kit". A fancy name for a large piece of wrapping paper and a pair of scissors.

Update for Cocomats

The samples and pattern making kit ( no scissors ) have arrived and the samples look great. So, as I pointed out, I am away quite a bit in Norway next week and France the week after and have little time at the moment to do the pattern. I will though soon and will discuss as I progress.

Garry, Bob and Frank in Aus

Dirk is also from Australia.
Is it feasible to do a combined shipment to cut down on transport and customs etc. costs?
What do Gary Bob and Frank think?
I run a business which imports a lot (manly from Europe). I don't mind redistributing to the other guys down under.

Here's what's happening

I am sending the templates back to the US today.

I'll chat with them about a discount - picking up on the conversation he had with Paul. Assuming one is offered, I'll work some way of making sure that  only registered members here get it - perhaps a password or something.

Once that's done I'll post again in this thread and then, as suggested, we need a volunteer to be the initial country point person: saving cocmats shipping hassle etc. I'll give that person the details of how to access the discount offline: they will be responsible for placing the order for that country's members and making sure that they get paid/members get their products.

I'll be on point for the UK.

No discount = every owner to himself! :D

More than happy to be the contact person in Oz and to place the order on behalf of everyone here. People can email me their details when the time comes. I suggest that we can work out exact costs when the goods arrive.

Thank you very much for organising the mats Tosh. It is very much appreciated. You can email me any information that is too sensative to post here.

I just know my wife will just smile condecendingly at me if I tell her how excited I'm getting over these mats.

FYI

Cocomats will give us a discount for the "bulk order" left OR Right hand drive. It's not major (10%: so $117 PLUS shipping) but it is nIce to have!!

So if anyone in the UK, eg Kemal, wants a LHD set, let me know.

Same goes for other countries. If there's a few in the US who want a set, at this point, all you need to do is work out to whom they ship....

Hi Tosh,
Let me also add my thanks for your efforts in Righities being able to gain Coco mats for their cars.
In my case I would be after the "02" Black with natural.
I believe Dirk has kindly offered to co-ordinate the others from Australia. Dirk how would you like to do this? Funds to you for a combined order, funds direct to Coco Mats but then consolidating a shipment to you for breakdown and forwarding or some other method?

Post by: Else1969 on April 06, 2008, 18:22:31
Last week Tosh asked me to hold off until a "test set" had been given a clean bill of health.
I believe that we will need to place one collective order, therefore I would have to pay fo the whole lot at once. In addition to this we will need to add transport + possibly customs charges + duty + import GST + local freight (to each individual). The cost of transport should be pretty clear, but the other charges may or may not apply depending if the total cost of goods is AUD1,000 or more.
I am quite willing to pay for everything up front, see what the actual costs are and then get payment from everyone before sending the mats out.
Worst case scenario: Noone pays me and I have about 5 sets of mats for Else (sofar I have Garry, Frank, Bob and George showing interest....if I find 2 more expressions of interest, then I might have a different set of mats for every day of the week).
In any case, I will not be doing anything until Tosh gives me the green light.

Sorry, stupid question.  Tosh tried to helped and sent me a link with photos but I'm still unsure. So do these mats go under the carpet as sound insulators or do they replace the carpets themselves. I think it's the former but just wanted to make sure.  Did the original cars have these?

Eryck, these cocomats sit on top of your carpet and their main function is to minimise wear & tear on your carpet.

Cocomats were an original option (refer to the technical article on datacard options

Just an aside on Eryck's question... The cocomats are sturdy and fairly thick. In my case, they sit on top of my carpet (squareweave with a foam backing), which in turn sits on top of some insulation similar to dynamat. All this together makes a solid foundation for sure. Problem is: it does minimize the foot space down there. I wear a US 11. My tennies and workshoes just make it -- but when I wear boots, my toe slightly hits the steering column as I go to brake. Was scary the first time it occurred! Just a "foot's up" (as opposed to a head's up...)

G'Day George,

I sent the email via your profile. The others received thei mail by the same process, so if you haven't yet then I suggest you check your email address in your profile.

According to the Sisal Page (www.cocomats.com/Style.htm) the only choice you seem to have is #53 Black & Grey Dot or #12 Black & White Dot. I cannot find any greys. Please let me know what you would like.
You could always go the Henry Ford way by choosing black (#22 herringbone).

Hello everyone!  I thought I would just post my information here so you can feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about fitment, colors, discounts, or shipping of Coco Mats.  If you are unsure of fitment we are happy to send copies of our current patterns for you to test and/or modify.  If anyone would like some physical samples of any of our colors, we would be happy to mail them out to you free of charge.  We are big enthusiasts here and we are open to any feedback you may have that will help us do our jobs better and help us continue to provide you quality hand-made floor mats.  Additionally, if you have any type of "custom" application, we would be happy to manufacture any type of mat to your specifications.

We also have a FaceBook page that will be up and running in about a week or so.

If there is anyone in your club that would like to act as the main representative, we would be happy to offer group discounts as well as combined shipping.

I would sincerely like to thank all the members that speak so highly about our mats.  We do our best to make sure that we continue to please everyone with our custom mats!
