Title: 67 230SL Air Conditioner
Post by: thunder on January 25, 2008, 14:20:57
Folks:

I'm a newbee.  Was there an OEM air conditioner available for the 67 230SL?  Or was it a dealer-installed option?  I'm looking at a car that has, what appears to be, an add-on unit.

It's mounted under the dash with all controls on the distribution unit's face and the only vents are there too.  HELP!

Ya gotta love 'em!

The A/C units were installed by MB in the US.  It looks very after market as you describe and hangs under the dash.  Mine and most others were made by FrigKing.  The compressor is a York piston unit which has been replaced on many cars by a rotary compressor.
