Title: Just add oil
Post by: gnj588d on January 16, 2008, 14:52:53
Just read something interesting in Mercedes Classic mag, its about fuel injection pumps it recomends putting oil in the petrol to preserve the internals.Has anyone tried this and does it affect the running,if its ok how much?.The mag is supplied free from the Classic centre to MB club members in the UK. several mechanics over the years have recommended putting some 2 stroke oil in the gas. i've done it on and off with all my cars ( 67 250sl, 78 28oce, 89 190e, 99 300dt) over the past 8 or 9 years and have never had a problem with injector performance

I believe it is Mercedes-Benz' official stance to use no fuel additives.

Hello,

I like to use a bit of two stroke oil in the last tank of gas before the car is stored for the winter. It keeps a little lubricant on the moving parts in the injection pump over the winter.
