Title: Hood secure strap:

Well like anything else you don't pay much attention to, this morning at work while removing a dead battery from my 280SL, the top hood strap slipped out of its bracket. I am not sure how it fits back correctly other than two screws and a plate. Is it wrapped a certain way?
I totally blanked out as to how it is supposed to fit.

Pictures can do more good for me than words though both would certainly be of help.

Bob,
I will take pictures tonight.  I looked and it appears that the strap originates on the back side of the mounting plate, against the hood.  It drops down, gets wrapped up around the outside edge of the mounting plate, then comes down between the plate and hood again and runs down to the fender from there.  I hope this makes sense - I will take a couple pictures.

Thank you all: I had the opportunity to look at another Pagoda and ajusted by hood stap according to the factory specs.
