Here's a neat find:

Looks like a couple of car-loving Brits bought a beautiful old inn in the Charente Valley that could an interesting destination.
Note their selection of cars for hire includes a certain convertible Mercedes...

Hi Guys,
This place looks like fun. There must be hundreds of these places, especially in western and southern France. Brits have been buying old buildings for years and doing them up. Anyone follow A Place in France, with Nigel and Nippy buying their place in the Ardeche? Hilarious.
Imagine taking on this project, plus keeping all your old cars going! We too have a building project plus several old cars, so I know the pain.
Here's a wonderful tour of Alsace I found...might do this even tho' it's in our backyard.

Deux Chevaux for rent? Hmmm...does anyone remember a '60s movie with two guys in France trying to drive one with a wonky transmission?

Our dear president, Cees, is currently doing up a place in France also that we were thinking of using this 2008 summer / autumn for a European event. We need someone locally to help us organise it however.

Trice, Peter - our place, a former monastery, is located close to the Elsace and near the Vosges and Jura mountains. Our architect is looking at it tomorrow, and work will need to be done that may extend beyond the 2008 summer season. Once ready though, it will be a perfect place to organize an event from (20 rooms in the main house, and plenty of garage space in the two barns on the property plus a very nice hotel closeby) but it may not be ready for that this year. Just spent two weeks Christmas and New Year's vacation there with frozen waterpipes, -12 degree (Celcius - cold also in Fahrenheit) nights, and no heat but open fireplaces. Luckily the previous owner left lots of wood in the distillery! To be continued ...

Cees,
So you're about 200km southwest of us in Alsace. Between us is a beautiful drive and plenty of good wine and food! Let's see how it plays out!
