Long time no post!
I have a neighbor that just purchased a 69 280Sl and he some how got the back part of the soft top stuck in the storage boot and we can not figure how to get it out of the boot. I read another post and Bob from Brisbane said that there was a post on how to fix this. I have lloked ALL over the forum and I cannot for the life of me find the post. Can someone assist me please.
Thaks,
Christian

Hey Christian.
James from the Los Gatos meet last June. I think there has been a lot written about this (either here or on the Pagoda113 site)... oops, can I say that here??
In the meantime, you might try to fold the entire thing back down. Close the lid (and "forgeddaboutit") ... no seriously, after it is completely closed -- try it again. Sometimes, if the front half comes up too soon, the hinge can dislodge and seemingly lock the back part in there. The whole unit needs to come up simultaneously.
Good Luck

James,
Good to hear from you, hope all is well. I will do some more research. He ended taking it to someone. We should have a little get together before it gets too cold. Let me know christianmcmillan@yahoo.com

Hi Christian,
Welcome back.
On the first screen you come into on the left is a selection.
Look in the "Technical Articles" section and you will find a listing for TOPS.
There are many discussions about all aspects of the TOPS including unwedging a soft top.
Alternately on the FORUMS page you can do a SEARCH for soft top. This will find all discussions so far.

I've had this, and solved it. I found instructions here http://www.pagoda113.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=3846000021&f=3296041521&m=4496041521&r=5496041521#5496041521 (How to unwedge a soft top) but found them insufficient. After half an hour of trying I managed to get it to work but wrote additional instructions on my own website. Have a look here http://bali.esweb.nl/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=39.
Remember... it will take more force than you thought!
Peter
