As I prepare to replace my softtop, the one thing I don't have are photos of a car that has a very well fitted soft top. I want to ensure my frame is correct before I start. I'm reasonably sure I can get the outside to fit properly and what it should look like, but what I could really use are a few photos of the interior specifically at the rear corners where the back corners of the softtop meet the softtop cover. I am particularly interested in how the bar holding the rear seal sits against the toneau cover. My car has a quite a large gap at the rear corners and I need something against which to compare it and so make sure the wiki entry is as good as it can be and that my frame is properly adjusted before I start.
Either post them here or, to save hassle reducing size etc, please email to me at:

All for the greater good!!
Thanks,
James

Douglas,
Please, can you help here?
I remember yours was sitting perfectly on 018260 and it was the original MB canvas.
Have you got some pictures or info in your archives about this?

Helloooooo!
Just 4 minutes with a camera is all I'm asking - focus on the rear corners on the inside; soft top up.
Please!

It sounds like Craig is going to shoot some pix of his 280 SL's soft top. It's a factory top, so it should be helpful.

James;
Here're some pix of my top. It's a recently installed GAHH black with tan herringbone liner. It was installed by a local auto upholstery shop. I hope this is what you're looking for. Let me know if there is some other detail you need.

Tis the perfect season for this request! This time of year Master Gernold is up to his neck in soft top restorations. I would give him a call and see if he could help.

What are the thin pieces of wire for shown in the first set of pictures and are they normal for a 280 ? If so, where can I get a couple? I have a GAHH top.
thanks

My thanks to John Harkin and Steve (beautiful job on that softtop by the way) for the photos. I think I'm gradually realising the scope of the challenge. Errrmmm. Too late!
I need to figure out first how to reform my frame before I set about putting a new top on. Steve's photos look like the frame is superbly well adjusted.
More to follow.
