What a great read. Looks to be an excellent example of a 280 SL. It's amazing how many US servicemen (and women) purchased Pagodas while stationed in Europe. I've heard that story at least a dozen times. Probably more.

And they start right out with an inaccurate statement in the first sentence, "In 1968 Mercedes-Benz manufactured 23,885 280Sl sports cars." I believe that's the total for the car's run from '68 through '71.

Nice article, but if the car had a black hardtop should the hubcaps not also be black? or did that change with later models?
