I have been following the "fuel linkage adjustment detail point" discussion. With the air cleaner hose removed & when the throttle valve is opened all the way by holding down the linkage, I can move the throttle plate several degrees. Is this normal to have some play even when it is closed & opened all the way or is it slipping?

It is more important that the linkage is aligned at the idle position than at wide open throttle.
The linkage needs to be adjusted so that both the throttle valve and the pump linkage begin moving from the idle stops at the same time.
