Post by: gnj588d on October 19, 2007, 13:23:03
I have just found out where the leak is on my power steering pump,Its from a small blanking plate on the side near the top,its got a pin in front of it to retain it.Has anyone got any ideas for the best way to fix it? Many thanks Mike Rutledge U.K.

Hello,

I think the pressure valve is behind the plate. It has O-rings if I recal.  You will need to dis-assemble and replace the o-rings. I would replace the front seal while your at it.

I think you need to take the pully off to do anything with the pump.  Use the correct tool for removing it.  A wheel pull will damage the pully.

I have taken the pump apart but the pressure plate is held by a pin which looks diffacult to remove,is the pin and plate under pressure,if so it looks hard to get back.Any advice appreciated.  Mike Rutledge.UK

yes, there is a spring under pressure behind the plate.
