Title: 230 SL Hard top. is it original?

Greetings.
I have this hard top that came with my 1967 230SL. The top is covered in a textured vinyl or rubber material. it is black. The previous owner said that it was a certain option for that car. Do any of you know anything more for certain about this option or have anyone seen this before?

Appreciate all the help i can get, would be interesting to see where it came from

Hello Olaf,

Vinyl covering on the pagoda hardtop is clearly not original. It was fashionable in the late 60ies and early 70ies. However, both MB (and I) disliked that completely and they said that vinyl-covered hardtops (or tops in general) or non-Mercedes-like.

It's clearly custom-made.
