What is the range of chassis numbers for a 71 280SL?

'71s were built from mid-late June 1970 - March 1971.

It depends if you mean the Year of Production or the United States Model Year.
The Year of Production, vehicles built in 1971 were 023585 - 023885, as Douglas said.
As a 1971 designated US Model Year, the range was from 018506 to 023885.
