Title: European Buyers?
Post by: zanone on August 30, 2007, 19:20:26
Just an observation but I've noticed that all of the 190s and 113s on Ebay that are showing bids and bidder names are by bidders with similar Ebay IDs. The IDs are always a letter followed by three asterisks like "m***l" and no feedback access. Are these German dealers buying the EBay cars for import? Just curious.

Very likely that these cars are going to Europe due to the favorable exchange rate.  I recently sold my Porsche to a guy in Denmark.

I'm sure many of these cars are going to Europe and there were two that were bought by the Classic Center.  As far as the asterisks go I checked on a few items I was watching on ebay and all the bidders were like that.  One letter followed by three asterisks and then a letter is how I found the bidders list.  My guess is ebay is using the first and last letter of the user name.

ebay is updating how user id's are displayed, the asterisks are their way of making the bidding history more "transparent".  Details at this link:  http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200708.shtml#2007-08-24154355
