Title: Lubrication assistance - What size nipples ?!!
Post by: Bruce Asbelle on September 11, 2003, 17:21:41
I am a new member of this board (what a great resource!) and
haven't even put up my info yet, but wanted to ask the
following -

I have a 1967 250SL, tan w/ dark brown leather, CA Coupe.
This weekend, I want to grease all of the nipples for the
front suspension, chassis, etc...

1) Where does one purchase the grease fittings for this job?
Does one size fit all the nipples? Just use regular chassis grease?

2) Would a regular Haynes manual list the location for all of
the nipples? Seems from reading this site that some are harder to find!

Thanks for your help, I hope I can contribute as much info as
I take out, but I kinda doubt it!

Cordially,

Bruce

The nipples on my car are all the same size. The owners manual for my 280 SL has a diagram that shows them all, and the Haynes manual does too, on page 14 for your car. I use 'normal' grease. Be careful that all nipples do in fact take grease. For the door hinges (small tapered holes) you need a special pointed fitting for your grease gun.
