On my early 250SL Auto, when in-gear at HOT idle, the CSS does not automatically activate.
If I touch the accelerator pedal the CSS activates.
Someone recently mentioned ‘low voltage’ needing the ‘touch’ of the accelerator pedal. I don't understand that.
I checked and adjusted the idle speed ( ~ 800 rpm) because I thought the idle switch was Vacuum operated and if the idle speed was low then not enough vacuum would be created.
I replaced the ‘IDLE SWITCH’ on the inlet manifold thinking that would solve the problem.
The auto transmission has a smooth gear change on slow down indicating the idle switch is working. The same thing as the old idle switch.
Any advice welcome, thanks

Does the CSS have enough 'oommph' left to actually push the linkages forward? Pressing the accelerator would then 'power assist' the solenoid, so it has to work less hard. My old CSS, after a few years of usage, was also not able to do push the linkages forward, so I replaced it with another (used) one.

Hey Cees,
The linkages do move forward but not consistently.
Maybe I need to grease the linkages as well as the rod from the accelerator pedal.
I will give it a go this weekend.
Thanks
