Title: Dash replacement
Post by: n/a on September 10, 2003, 09:13:49
I have the old windshield out, ready to be replaced, and will also be recovering all dash pieces, upholstery in leather. Does anyone know if it is best to do the upholstery first, then install the windshield, or just install the windshield first??

Hello SD,
Naturally access to the dash is easiest with the windshield out. However complete dash removal or installation is possible with the glass in place. Your choice. It is easier with the glass out. Make sure you have a good safe place to store the windshield if left out!

SD,
You will want to leave the wood trim off until the windshield is installed (although it would be much easier to install the left side piece with the windshield out). Because the wood fits tightly over the windshield seal, there is a significant risk of damage to the wood when the widshield is put back in place.
