There is a 280SL currently for sale on ebay by Motoring Investments. Two of the many pictures show what Brian calls a "weep dimple". I cannot find such a dimple on my car but the problem is that I don't quite know where to look. It is a bit hard from the pics to identify the exact location.
If you have these dimples on your car could you (perhaps Brian??) please post some coordinates showing how far away these dimples are from easily identifiable spots?

Alfred,
They are just outboard of where the trailing arms of the rear suspension are fixed to the floor of the car. It is also quite possible that 230s didn't have them.

Alfred,
I don't know if you've looked around your car, but there are several places where a gap was made to allow water to drain. I know of several around the engine bay and front subframe. I've not noticed these by the trailing arm mounts. I'll have to look!

Brian,
I'll poke around the area you indicated and see whether something has been covered up by the undercoating.
Rodd, yes I found several drain holes in the front and also under the soft top compartment but not yet those described by Brian.
How about if we search for them during the Blacklick meeting?

Hi Alfred, hopefully you won't find the kind of weep holes I have ... you know, the red, flaky rusted-out kind of holes that make you weep...
