I just received a new CSV solenoid from SLS in Germany. My old CSV solenoid had a part number of 0-330-106-004. My old solenoid had a shorter pin.
The new CSV solenoid from SLS is part number 0-330-106-001. It has a pin that is 4mm longer.
Is anyone familiar with this device? The part number differences? The short vs longer pin?
With my old CSV solenoid, it was taking about 20-30 seconds of having the key turned before I started the car. With the new CSV solenoid, I smell lots of gas and currently it does not start... :oops:
Any ideas? Comments?

Here is an earlier post from you...
-Solenoid operating rod too long, holds the valve open all the time. Measure the rod, and measure distance from the solenoid mounting face to the end of the valve, and compare. Correction is to shorten the rod as needed.
Is this the procedure? Shorten the pin to "fit"?

Hi Bob,
I think the George in question is probably George Des, but I recall seeing some discussion on this a few months to a couple years ago and believe that's the correct procedure-it's what I'd do, at any rate. Dremel cut-off disk is probably the best way to go.

Hello George,
Thank you for your reply. In the mean time, I also heard back from SLS. They also recommended shortening the pin. Their other suggestion was to return this solenoid and purchase the entire CSV & Solenoid as one unit. Lots more $. It seems a quick Dremel snip along with a bit of filing will do the trick.
I'll report back on this.

No--not me. I've not played with the CSV solenoid, but the approach you suggest of shortening the pin makes sense to me.

Hi George Davis,
It was a post from you (on the "other" website) dated Feb 17, 2004, where you listed several ideas on resolving a CSV issue, one of which was to shorten the pin.... (not related to installing a new solenoid, but rather a possible fix to a csv issue).

I've been known to ask the same question more than once -- and probably made the same stupid joke a time or two...remember, Time goes by.

I could not find a separate listing for the solenoid of the CSV for the 250 and 280sl models.
The CSV solenoid for the 230sl part number was/is A000 074 03 88

Update: I shortened the pin with my Dremel. Now it works great!
Obviously the longer pin was pushing down and keeping the valve open, causing too much gas to squirt into the intake.
