so, I ordered and received the parts to rebuild the cross link for centering the diff on my 230 sl. I received 2 cups that go on each side of the large rubber bushing (item 115), item 116 and 117 on the attached photo the mb part numbers are
110 351 07 43 and 110 351 06 43 are these the same part or does the 06 and 07 designate an inner and outer one?
also, on my car I am going to replace plate 121 in the photo and when I took a look, it did not appear I even had an inner metal cup between the plate and the large rubber bushing. is it neceaary to install a metal cup between the large bushing and the metal plate?
any thoughts? any warnings?

so, did some research and found something else out.
I need another large rubber bushing, on the 230 sl the configuration from the outside to diff is
cup, large rubber bushing, plate, large rubber bushing, cup then to the end pieces that connect to the diff.

I think my car was like that, too. Doing the work is a bit awkward with the exhaust in the car, but otherwise it's mostly straighforward. The only real problem came when I was adjusting the length of the rod. The end of the rod has a screwdriver slot for that purpose, and mine deformed rather badly. Maybe the trick is to loosen the nut so the turning effort isn't so high, adjust and retighten and recheck? Or maybe I was just unlucky? Something to watch for.

The drawing is not correct (it works to order parts - not to assemble them). Your sequence in your second post is correct although you did not mention the "cuff" that goes between the inboard cup/bushing and the connection at the differential. It acts like a seal to keep dirt out of the bushing area.

you are correct, I did leave off the cuff.
I acknowledge the attached jpeg is good for ordering parts and not to assemble them, I am kind of disappointed that cheryl at K&K did not catch this. I now need to order 2 more bushings to rebuild the center link.
I think I will e-mail sls and suggest they add qtys required per job.
